Mariwala Health Initiative

The Mariwala Health Initiative (MHI) is a leading mental health advocacy organization committed to building inclusive mental health ecosystems. MHI focuses on addressing mental health needs, especially among marginalized groups, through innovative approaches and community-driven solutions.

In collaboration with MHI, Jan Shaurya aims to address the root causes of traditional practices that push minor girls into sex work. The focus is on prevention, rescue, and rehabilitation, working at multiple levels. This project is expected to cover areas in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, and New Ashok Nagar districts, focusing on 5 villages with the highest concentration of women and girls from these communities.

The organization has established ‘Dignity Centers’ where volunteers from the same community engage the youth in educational and recreational activities after school, raise awareness about their rights, and motivate them toward education and careers. They also provide parental counselling and facilitate admissions to residential hostels-cum-schools to ensure that children continue their education instead of being pushed into sex work.
