Azim Premji Foundation

Azim Premji Foundation is a non-profit organization working towards improving the quality of education and providing equal opportunities across the country. The Foundation believes that every child has the right to quality education and makes continuous efforts in collaboration with teachers, community and institutions.

In collaboration with Azim Premji Foundation, Jan Shaurya aims to address the root causes of traditional practices that push minor girls into sex work. It focuses on prevention, rescue and rehabilitation, and is being worked on at various levels. The project is expected to cover 20 villages in Neemuch, and has set up ‘Garima Centres’ in 5 villages with the highest number of women and girls from these communities where volunteers from the same community engage the youth in educational and recreational activities after school, raise awareness about their rights and motivate them towards education and career. They also counsel parents to ensure that children continue their education instead of being pushed into sex work.
